Meet The Winemaker

Brian Dierks

A native of Southern Oregon, Brian was born and raised in Grants Pass and now lives in a small community outside of Rogue River.

If Brian is not tinkering in the winery or his wood shop he can be found adventuring in the wild lands of Southern Oregon. He spends his free time exploring the bike trails and back roads of the Rogue Valley on his mountain bike or road bike.  And of course he loves to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire pit.

A Little Bit About The Labels

Our wine labels represent the powerful concept of grit, which is about persevering through challenges and pushing oneself to overcome obstacles. The images on our labels serve as a visual representation of this idea, and each person can interpret them in their own unique way. For some, they may represent a time of reflection and healing, while for others, they may be a reminder to push themselves a little further. Whatever the interpretation, our wine labels evoke a sense of strength, resilience, and determination. They are a testament to the human spirit and a celebration of the inner strength that we all possess. Whether you're enjoying a glass of wine alone or with friends, our wine labels serve as a reminder to keep pushing forward and never give up on your dreams.

We want to give a couple shout outs! Our wine labels are a true work of art, and credit must be given to the artist behind the pencil sketch work, Jasper Hostler. His incredible talent and attention to detail have brought the concept of grit to life through these powerful images. Check out more of his work here, https://www.instagram.com/jasper_hostler/

Additionally, our wine labels feature a brand design created by Phillip Bradfield of @Circa1968design. Phillip not only designed our wine label's epic logo but also played a crucial role in creating our brand's image. The logo perfectly complements the artwork and ties the entire label design together, resulting in a truly stunning wine label that is sure to catch the eye and inspire all who see it. The GRIT Story

Welcome to Grit Cellars, a family-owned winery that was established in 2019 by a photographer turned winemaker. Our business is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and an unwavering passion for crafting exceptional wines.

As a long-time studio photographer, Brian has always had an eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. In 2017, he decided to pursue his love of wine by enrolling in UCC (Umpqua Community College) to study winemaking and gain practical experience in a school winery. After producing his first vintage of wines in 2019, he knew he had found his calling.

Over the next few years, we worked tirelessly to obtain all the necessary licenses and equipment to turn his passion into a full-time business. Finally, in 2022, Grit Cellars opened its doors to the public, and we made our first vintage in our very own winery in Rogue River. Since then, we have been dedicated to crafting exceptional wines using only the finest grapes sourced from local vineyards. Our philosophy is simple: we believe that great wines are made with grit, determination, and passion.

We take a hands-on approach to winemaking, using traditional techniques to create wines that are balanced, complex, and full of character. Our commitment to quality is unwavering, and we believe that every bottle of wine should be a true expression of the land and the people who make it.

Thank you for choosing Grit Cellars. We invite you to come and experience our wines for yourself and discover the passion and dedication that goes into every bottle.
